Depending on which side you were on, this is either a good day or a bad day. Either way, it led to great loss of life, although possibly less than there would have been otherwise. A friend from work, now retired, was there, and recently shared his story with a project that is putting together video of soldiers from WWII. Even now, 60-some years later, you can’t help but get a lump in your throat and tears in your eyes to hear him talk about it.
