It has finally cooled off at my house down to normal temperatures for this time of year, but I know many of you are still enduring the brutally hot weather. Or you live somewhere that is normally brutally hot, in which case you’ve been mocking me for the last couple of weeks for whining. Whatever. The point is, it’s summer, and everyone needs a way to keep cool. Also, if you’ve got kids, odds are pretty good they are starting to make you crazy because they’re always bored. Why not kill two birds with one stone, and make your backyard into a water park?

You can do it with the Rocky Mountain River Race. This is an inflatable water park you can set up anywhere you have room (it measures 161 x 169 x 105 inches). It’s got two slides with spray hoods, as well as a climbing wall. Over the climbing wall is a surprise dump bucket, so while your child is making its way to the top, he or she is going to get inundated with water as well. Each slide ends in a splash pool, which can also be used as a regular kiddie pool.

I suppose I should tell you about the non-fun parts that as parents you’ll want to know…it comes with stakes to hold it securely in place, as well as a heavy-duty blower to provide continuous inflation. The slide is made of puncture-resistant material, but does include a repair kit for when the inevitable accident happens. It’s recommended for kids aged 5-10 years (maximum height: 105 inches, maximum combined weight: 350 pounds, maximum number of kids at one time: 4), and is manufactured by Little Tikes. Shipping is only available to the contiguous 48 United States. All you need to supply water to the River Race is an ordinary garden hose.

You’re also going to pay pretty dearly for this one. Asking price is right around $480.00 US.
