The Freedom 251 Android Smartphone Costs 5 Bucks Dylan Duarte February 17, 2016 News So you want a decent smartphone, but a high-end flagship handset just isn’t in the budget? Alright, so what’s your budget? There’s a myriad of solid mid-range smartphones out there that can be had for just a few hundred bucks. What’s that? That’s still out of your price range? So what can you spend? About five bucks, you say? I got you covered. The Freedom 251 Android handset costs roughly $3.60 – that’s three dollars and sixty cents – and the specs you get for that price are bananas. I was going to say that the handset is “surprisingly mid-range” for such a cheap phone, but let’s be honest – simply getting a working phone for $3.60 is surprising. Mid-range specs for under four bucks is bananas. The handset has a 4-inch, 960p IPC LCD display, a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, 3.2-megapixel camera rear camera, and a 0.3-megapixel front camera. It supports 3G, dual-SIM cards, and a so-so 1,450 battery. It runs on Android 5.1. Here’s the fine print: it’s only available in India. At the price, however, I have to wonder if we’ll see these things popping up on eBay, considering the dual-SIM slots. For $3.60, you’d be lucky to get a rock painted like a smartphone.
