Nintendo Mobile Apps Will Feature Popular Characters Dylan Duarte January 15, 2016 News Nintendo’s mobile plans are still pretty murky. We first learned way back in March 2015 that Nintendo had struck a deal with Japanese game provider DeNa to produce mobile apps for smartphones and tablets. In October, they announced Miitomo, a Mii-centric social networking app. While interesting, it’s also not a game. According to Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima, popular Nintendo characters will be showing up in Nintendo apps by the end of the year. Kimishima didn’t say which characters or franchises will be showing up, but I think it’s a safe bet that Mario might be on the shortlist. Of course, this still doesn’t give us any indication as to what the apps will be. We could get a mobile Mario platformer, or a mobile kart racer, or we could just get a productivity app where Donkey Kong helps you maintain a to-do list. There’s really no telling with Nintendo. Let’s just hope it’s fun, whatever it is. Share This With The World!
