7.9-Inch iPad Pro Mini Proves Small Is Big Again Michael Kwan October 3, 2016 News With all these fancy Apple Pencils and smart connectors on the iPad Pro, the smaller and humbler iPad mini has been largely ignored for the last refresh cycle or two. Fear not, lovers of tablets of more manageable size! Apple is coming to the rescue by succeeding the current iPad mini 4 with an all new iPad Pro Mini. Or iPad Mini Pro. We’re not sure. Apple decided to change the game with its 12.9-inch iPad Pro in September 2015, which was then followed by the 9.7-inch iPad Pro this past March. Meanwhile, the smallest and most affordable Apple tablet sat idly by. The current rumors are now pointing toward a complete refresh of the iPad Pro lineup for early next year, likely in the spring. The most notable, at least to me, is the new 7.9-inch iPad Pro Mini. This will be the first iPad Pro in an iPad mini kind of size. It’ll get the same Smart Connector as its larger cousins, along with four speakers, a 12MP main camera with True Tone flash, and a True Tone display to align it with the other tablets in the Pro family. The current 9.7-inch iPad Pro will get replaced by a 10.1-inch variant, likely with the same overall dimensions and just smaller bezels. The largest 12.9-inch iPad Pro will still be here too, boasting an upgraded camera and display. And quite unlike the iPhone 7, all three of the new iPad Pro tablets will reportedly retain the 3.5mm headphone jack. They’ll also be upgraded to quad microphones. How much would you be willing to pay for a 7.9-inch iPad Pro Mini? If we were to follow what Apple has done in the past, this would signal the retirement of the iPad mini 2, moving the iPad mini 4 into the “entry level” slot. Via Macotakara Share This With The World!
