I don’t believe I am familiar with this particular holiday, but I have to admit I really, really like it. We’ve all seen them, mostly on the covers of tabloids or other magazines in the supermarket checkout stand. Eat nothing but grapefruit for a month and lose weight! Only eat meat and lose weight! Eat all the chocolate you want and lose weight! Take this magic pill and lose weight without having to alter your diet or exercise! Yeah, right. None of those really work. Or some of them do, but only in the short term, and they are incredibly unhealthy for you. So today, we say good riddance to fad diets! Instead, let’s take a more rational approach to our weight loss goals and try smaller portions, more vegetables and less potato chips, and perhaps walking up a flight of stairs instead of taking the elevator.
