When it comes to the world of notebook computers, you usually find yourself in one of two camps. On the one hand, you’ve got the really thin and really light laptops out there, but they tend to be on the underpowered side of things. On the other hand, you’ve got the extremely powerful notebooks, but they tend to be much heavier and much bulkier. With the AORUS X7 and AORUS X3 Plus, you might not need to make that compromise.

We met up with the AORUS folks at COMPUTEX 2014 to get a closer look at these two extremely powerful gaming laptops, both of which are less than an inch thick and are surprisingly light for the kind of horsepower they pack under the hood.

In the case of the 17.3-inch AORUS X7, for example, you get NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M SLI dual graphics for the full HD screen, support for three external monitors via NVIDIA Surround Technology, RAID Xpress with the three mSATA SSDs in a RAID 0 configuration, up to 32GB of DDR3L-1866 RAM across the four slots, and a fourth-gen Core i7 processor in a package that only weighs 3kg.

On the smaller side, we find the 13.9-inch AORUS X3 Plus with its 3200 x 1800 display, fourth-generation Core i7, up to 16GB of RAM and a GTX 870M with 6GB of GDDR5. It’s super slim and very light at 1.83kg too. AORUS isn’t quite ready to confirm pricing for either gaming laptop yet, but they are prepared to keep pushing the envelope in every way possible.
