Go Daddy Taken Down, Possible Anonymous Member Takes Credit godaddy logo.jpg 500x178

Go Daddy was the victim of a DDoS attack yesterday and a user claiming to be Anonymous’s leader has taken credit. The site has confirmed via their Twitter account that they’re dealing with issues both on their site and sites that the service hosts. Go Daddy-hosted websites aren’t down for everyone, but a lot of people are experiencing slow speeds. GoDaddy.com was down for hours, but seems to be back up at this time.

While Go Daddy hasn’t gone into details, a supposed member of the hacker group Anonymous has, taking to his or her Twitter account to claim credit for the issues. Twitter user “Anonymous Own3r” claims he took Go Daddy down to “test how the cyber security is safe” and for other reasons that he can’t disclose. The poor grammar somehow makes the message more ominous.

However, the hacker claims that he was acting on his/her own and this wasn’t done by the Anonymous collective. There also seems to be some animosity between this user and the actual Anonymous Twitter account, so take that as you will. Is this a rogue agent or someone completely outside the group?
