A Chameleon Suit For Soldiers

Soldiers have been receiving quite a few goodies lately. First the cooling vest, that keeps them comfortable in hot combat conditions, and then “smart fabric” that helps monitor their physiological response on the battlefield. Now comes chameleon combat gear, using electrochromism to change the color of the suit and allow combatants to blend in their surroundings. This “could very well become a key defence strategy used by soldiers” and will be far more mobile than previous attempts at camouflage.
Invented by two students in Singapore, this material could also hit the world of fashion allowing women to change the color of their dress at a party when they realise that a rival is wearing the same garment!
