When I was compiling my iPhone X review round up the other day, there was one complaint that kept popping up, but everyone agreed it was more of a nitpicky nuisance than an actual problem. The “notch” that sits at the top of the screen is driving plenty of iPhone users up the wall. It’s so annoying people were masking it with specially designed wallpapers. And now there’s an app available in the app store that will do it for you.

Don’t mask or call special attention to key display features. Don’t attempt to hide the device’s rounded corners, sensor housing, or indicator for accessing the Home screen by placing black bars at the top and bottom of the screen.

Apple tried to get developers to embrace the notch, but their willingness to approve an app that hides it shows that company listens to its consumers. Look, nothing’s perfect, and Apple shouldn’t care that the notch isn’t a home run with everybody. The app to remove it is only a buck, so might as well grab it if the notch is bugging you.
