
Garments that can monitor the heart rate, skin temperature, posture, and other physiological parameters have been unveiled at CeBIT, the annual trade show for information and telecommunications technology in Hannover, Germany. This “smart fabric” is manufactured by Zephyr, a company based in New Zealand, which originally developed it for athletes or recovering surgery patients in order to monitor their progress. Now, the US military is interested in the technology to assess how troops are doing under the stress of combat.
