Windows Phone 8.1 Will Add Notification Center, Cortana Voice Assistant Dylan Duarte December 16, 2013 Have you always wanted a Siri-like assitant without having to have an iOS device? Maybe you’d like to have a torrid love affair with a digital voice like in the new Spike Jonze film? Well you’ll be happy to know that the Windows Phone 8.1 update comes with a personal assistant, similar to Apple’s Siri. Oh, there’s also a new notification center, but you can’t have a torrid love affair with that. Unless you’re into that sort of thing. Microsoft is currently beta testing 8.1 internally and plans to formally announce the updates at the 2014 Build Developer Conference. The notification center feature has been highly requested and the Verge reports that it will work similar to those on iOS and Android; you’ll be able to swipe down from the top of the screen to access the feature. Microsoft’s personal digital assistant will be called Cortana, which is at the same time brilliant and unsurprising. Cortana will supposedly replace Bing search and respond to both voice and text commands. Check out The Verge for a more extensive report from their source. Share This With The World!
