It’s really hard to make a name for yourself when you’re a new company, particularly in as competitive a space as smartphones. We’ve seen this with OnePlus and Nextbit, among others. Technically, the Essential Phone comes from a “new” company, but it’s backed by Android co-founder Andy Rubin, so it’s gotta be good, right? And now you can (almost) get your hands on one.

Some people have commented that they put in their pre-order for the Essential Phone earlier this month when it was listed as a September 1 delivery date (which would be today), only to have their order cancelled.

If you were to go to the Amazon page again today, you’ll find that the delivery date has now been pushed back a week to September 8th, but you can start putting in your pre-order for an unlocked Essential Phone again.

As a quick refresher, the unlocked Essential Phone will rock 128GB of internal storage, an impressive 5.71″ edge-to-edge display with the Cyclops-like front-facing camera cut into the top, a titanium body, ceramic back, dual camera system, magnetic accessory system (like the 4K 360-degree camera attachment), Snapdragon 835 and 4GB of RAM, along with a 3,040mAh battery.

If you want to get your hands on an unlocked Essential Phone, it’s best to act quickly as I’m sure stock is limited. Find it for $699 on Amazon with an anticipated release date of September 8. In the meantime, check out these comprehensive reviews from MKBHD and the Verge.
