UnaPhone Zenith the Most Secure Smartphone (But at What Cost?) Michael Kwan May 4, 2016 News As convenient as our smartphones may be, they’re also vulnerable to all sorts of hacking attacks and data leaks. You don’t want someone getting into your text messages and emails, just as you don’t want them to access your banking information or your social media credentials. If you want to get away from spying eyes, the UnaPhone Zenith just might be the phone for you. The developers are saying that the UnaPhone Zenith is the most secure phone that you’ll ever own. They’ve taken Google Android 6.0 as the core for developing their own highly modified version called UnaOS. It strips away all of the Google services and replaces them with their own, giving you encrypted calls, encrypted texts, and encrypted email. Everything that comes out of your phone is encrypted. This isn’t the first super secure phone on the market — the “Snowden” privacy phone comes to mind — but UnaPhone is going several steps further. For starters, you will not be able to install any third-party apps whatsoever, because they all could represent a security risk. The bootloader is also locked and ADB is disabled. The only updates you’ll get and the only apps you’ll have are the super secure ones that UnaPhone wants to give you; there are 40 preloaded to start. No Snapchat. No Instagram. No Facebook. As far as the main specs, you get a 2.0GHz octa-core processor, 4GB RAM, 32GB storage, microSD support up to 256GB, a 5.5-inch 1080p display by LG, a Sony 13MP rear camera and 8MP front camera, a 3000mAh battery, USB-C, quick charge and wireless charging support, and a dual SIM card slot. You can preorder the UnaPhone Zenith for $439 via the Indiegogo fundraising page with deliveries expected to commence this September. Via Mobilescout Share This With The World!
