Tune Blocker: When All You Want To Do Is Charge Beth Snyder March 12, 2012 You’ve been listening to your iPod for a couple of hours, and now it’s time to charge it. But, you’re either not at home and using someone else’s computer, or you’re in a hurry. The problem is, unless you’ve changed your default settings, your iPod wants to also sync your music while it charges. If you’ve already done that, or are using a friend’s computer, you don’t want to sync. Because who wants their friend’s music instead of their own? Granted, there are internal settings you can change to prevent it wanting to auto-sync, and even if you haven’t it still asks you, but it’s still an inconvenience. And in an age of instant gratification, you don’t want to wait. Tune Blocker fills a niche I didn’t even realize needed filling. Simply put, it’s a charging cord for your iPod or iPhone that allows you to charge without being bothered about syncing. The cord has a switch, so before you plug it in you can choose whether you want to charge and sync or simply charge. If you have it set to “charge only”, it not only will not sync, but you won’t have to software-eject your iPhone before you can unplug it safely. The Tune Blocker is three feet long, and is compatible with all iDevices. It also works with any computer, so there are no worries about contaminating your Apple product with a PC and vice versa if you’re one of those adamantly crazy people about that sort of thing. You know what I find neat? It’s got raised lettering on the top side, so you can always plug it in the correct way. As we all know, when you’re plugging in a USB cord you get it backward about 95% of the time on the first try. Up to you if you think this is worth the cost at $19.95 US.
