The News: Thursday, November 22 Edition Beth Snyder November 22, 2012 Happy Thanksgiving, US! Even though there are just the two of us again this year, and even though I can’t walk, and even though I can’t use both hands to take things in and out of the oven because I need one to steer my scooter…I am cooking! Not so much of a traditional meal, although with traditional parts. I’m roasting a leg of lamb (studded with garlic and rosemary, then rubbed with olive oil, salt and pepper), roasting a head of cauliflower (drizzled with olive oil, garlic, lemon juice and Parmesan), making my version of green bean casserole, and making the tossed salad my maternal grandmother used to make. Then the easy stuff…heating up a jar of sweet & sour red cabbage and baking some Grands southern-style buttermilk biscuits. We still had a pecan pie in the freezer, so I took that out and it’ll be dessert, along with some fresh whipped cream. My house smells crazy good right now. To those who are celebrating, Happy Thanksgiving! To those who are not, Happy Thursday! I’ll think of you as I slip into my food coma later.
