You know what’s kind of fun? Being the Auntie to my best friend’s children. They adore me, and I adore them. They are amazing little people, and I’m incredibly glad I’ve gotten to spend time with them again. But in addition to the fun stuff, one of the things I thoroughly enjoy (probably a little too much) is their reaction when I yell at them for doing something they’re not supposed to be doing. And I don’t even really have to yell, is the best part. I just have to use that “mom voice” (you all know the one), and they act like their world is ending. Being the fun aunt means rarely having to dole out discipline, but also that it is incredibly, immediately effective when I do.
