It’s not something that happens only in the movies or sitcoms, it happens all the time. Quite possibly to you. What I’m talking about is being somewhere away from your computer, going to open a file on your laptop or whatever other device you might have, and it’s not there. Which leads to one of two reactions: anger or stunned disbelief. Here you are, all ready to present your sales pitch, and you don’t have it. What the heck do you do now? Pogoplug Pro has your solution.

What this does is connect any USB drive to the internet, which in turn connects to your computer’s hard drive. This means you can access your files and start your presentation on time, with no one the wiser. Which could very well save your job. What more could you want? But wait, there’s more. You can also choose to share files with other people, which means you can send pictures to grandma, recipes to Aunt Sue, and financial information to your accountant without having to depend on a flash drive or external hard drive. All you have to do is send them a link, and they have instant access to whatever you want to share.

Pogoplug Pro is easy to install, requiring only two cables and a visit to their website. All your files can be viewed via your web browser, so as long as Internet access exists, you’re all set. It’s also compatible with iOS, so you can access your music or media with your iPhone without eating up its memory. Basically, it’s like having your own personal cloud. The feature I can see myself using most is wireless printing. You can send pretty much anything to your home printer from your Android, iPhone, iPad or whatever other mobile device you might have. Access comes through Windows Explorer or Mac Finder.

These don’t come cheap, but then good things mostly don’t. Pogoplug Pro will run you £99.99 (about €114 or $159.00 US).
