Remember when the original OnePlus One launched and it was being positioned as a “flagship killer,” offering flagship level features and specs at a price point that severely undercut the bigger names in the business? OnePlus smartphones are generally well received, but the sticker price has slowly crept closer and closer to the big boys. But when you check out the OnePlus 6 specs that have now been confirmed by CEO Pete Lau, you can see why.

In an official post on the company’s forums, Pete Lau re-affirms the company’s “pursuit of burdenless speed” and how the upcoming flagship OnePlus 6 address the same question they ask with every new product. How can we create the best possible user experience?

He talks about how speed is about more than just “creating a lasting impression of speed and smoothness, throughout all-day use,” but also about “ensuring there is less than a 1/1000 percent likelihood of your phone freezing, even under constant heavy use.” They’re setting out to set “a higher standard.”

So, what can we expect from the OnePlus 6 specs to back up that “higher standard” of speed and performance? Pete Lau confirms that the OnePlus 6 will get a Snapdragon 845, along with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. That puts it right in the same league as the Galaxy S9 (with double the RAM, actually) and above the Google Pixel 2 XL.

To go along with the mission to “never settle,” the R&D department has a group called Team FSE that focuses on three tenets of a great user experience: fast, stable, efficient. And they hope to achieve this again with these impressive OnePlus 6 specs, even if the new phone comes with a notch too.
