So, we already know that Google is going to be killing off the Nexus name this year. We already know that the new HTC-made Google phones are going to be called the Pixel and Pixel XL and we’ve already seen some leaked photos of both devices. Now, we’ve got some official confirmation for when these new Google phones will be revealed to the world. Mark your calendars for October 4.

That’s exactly two weeks from today, for those you playing along at home. Don’t worry. If you weren’t one of the lucky few who received a special invitation from Google to attend the unveiling event in person, you really can play along at home. They’ll be streaming it all on YouTube starting bright and early at 9 am Pacific on Tuesday, October 4.

Along with the unveiling of the Google Pixel and Pixel XL, the Google event should also include the unveiling of an updated Chromecast device with 4K video support (possibly called the Chromecast Ultra or Chromecast Plus). There should also be the Google Daydream View VR headset, plus some more information about the Google Home IoT solution.

As we count down the next fourteen days, we can enjoy the teaser video (embedded below) and the teaser site — at madeby.google.com for basically no new information. If nothing else, it’s pretty clearly a phone and it’s really pushing the Google brand.
