National Adoption Day Beth Snyder November 19, 2011 Again, a US-specific holiday, but one very dear to my heart. My oldest niece and her husband first fostered and then adopted three children. The kids have been with us almost three years now, and it has been the ultimate in making my heart happy to see them grow and come out of their shells and learn what it means to live in a real house, with a real family, where they are guaranteed food on the table, clothes on their backs, and plenty of toys and time to be kids with them. I raise my virtual glass to anyone who has adopted a child, no matter that child’s circumstances. I know what it takes, and I am quite frankly in awe of you.
