Namesake Day Beth Snyder March 6, 2011 Everyone’s name came from somewhere, fairly often because of either a family member past or present or a close family friend. Today is the day to think about why your name is what it is. There are two family stories about my name, only one of which is true. The untrue one is more fun, of course, in that it says we can trace our lineage back to Elizabeth I, so I am named after her. The reality is that my mother’s obstetrician’s wife’s name was Elizabeth, and she was apparently a wonderful woman, so my mother named me after her. But if my second-oldest sister asks, tell her it was her idea…she thinks she named me.
