Must Have: LEGO Master Builder Academy Beth Snyder May 25, 2011 Extras Previously, I kept thinking I’d found the best LEGO creation ever. I was wrong. Way wrong. This is easily the best thing LEGO has put out, hands down. Because no matter how many creative things you build out of LEGO, they don’t necessarily carry the LEGO stamp of approval. This obviously does, and one can only hope that by completing all of the sets available you could eventually get to work with the professionals. It’s something to dream about, anyway. There are actually six kits total, and each one is different and slightly harder than the last…as is befitting of a master builder program. The starter kit comes with a handbook and a three-in-one starter model, and is $29.99 US. You don’t just learn how to build spacecraft out of LEGO, though. You also learn LEGO theory and design including principles like interlocking and stability, color and shape design, microscale building, balance, details, themes and even how to plan out a creation in 3D using brickpaper sketches. Additional kits can be purchased as a subscription, each one arriving about every two months, and covering other items like robots and vehicles. The further kits are $69.99 US. There’s even an online community where you can share your creations. I honestly can’t think of a better thing to own. Sure, completing the course doesn’t guarantee anyone at LEGO will even return your call, but it may well get you noticed on a gadget blog or two. Definitely this one, if you go on to build something really cool. You know how I am about LEGO. Source: Oh Gizmo! Share This With The World!
