Microsoft Cutting Prices on Surface RT Tablets Dylan Duarte July 11, 2013 In an effort to boost slow sales, Microsoft is supposedly planning to lower the prices of its Surface RT tablets and the price cut could happen as early as next week. Each model is getting slashed by $150. Microsoft has been moving units with its education program and they’ve also been successful at selling units at their Tech-Ed and Worldwide Partner conferences. They actually hinted at replacement Surface RT and Surface Pro models at their Worldwide Partner Conference that occurred on Wednesday, which could tie in to the reports that they’ve been testing models with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 processor. There are also reports that Microsoft will be reveal new Surface accessories, including a battery-equipped keyboard cover. The new prices are as follows: Surface RT 32GB – $349.99 Surface RT 64GB – $449.99 Surface RT 32GB with Touch Cover – $449.99 Surface RT 64GB with Touch Cover – $549.99 $150 is a pretty steep price drop.
