Microsoft Announces Cortana, Personal Digital Assistant Dylan Duarte April 3, 2014 Let’s all pretend like we didn’t see all the leaks and act surprised: Microsoft has officially announced Cortana, their answer to Siri and Google Now. Developed for Windows Phone 8.1, Cortana is a Bing-powered voice search that will eventually replace the search function altogether. Cortana can do more than just search. It can also help you make calls, send texts, take notes, set reminders and alarms, as well as defeat the Covenant. It will also work with various third-party apps. Cortana functions the same way Siri and Google Now do. It doesn’t need to learn you voice, its interactions will be as natural as possible, and it will get smarter over time. That last tidbit is particularly unnerving. Let the war of the digital assistants begin. via Engadget Share This With The World!
