LEGO has to be one of the most timeless toys on the market. Even today, at 30 years old, I find myself perusing the LEGO aisle whenever I’m at the store, taking in all of the cool Star Wars sets and trying to find a way to justify purchasing one. I never do, because they are a tad on the expensive side and I have responsibilities that will suffer if I take a month off to build a LEGO Death Star, but the desire is always there.

Superheroes, specifically superhero movies, are the new hotness and of course LEGO is getting in on the licensed action. Enter the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier playset, pictured above. While S.H.I.E.L.D. has been around for decades and the helicarrier has gone through multiple changes, LEGO’s version is based on the helicarrier seen in the current slate of Marvel films.

The set comes with minifigures of the more prominent S.H.I.E.L.D. agents – Captain America, Hawkeye, Nick Fury, Black Widow, and Maria Hill – as well as even smaller versions of Cap, Hawkeye, Fury, Iron Man, and eight S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, the latter designed to reside on the bridge of the helicarrier, which you can also build. Oh, and there’s a bonus mini-Quinjet, because you can’t just be stranded on a helicarrier.

Check out the video below to see a LEGO designer walk through the set, which comes out in March.
