Hard Disk Failures are MUCH Higher Than Expected Stephen Fung March 3, 2007 According to a study, it appears that hard drive failure rates are about 15 times HIGHER than what the manufacturers claim them to be. I can understand the manufacturers fudging some numbers to look good on the spec sheets, but when you’re THAT FAR out of whack, oh man, better start backing up that data yesterday!
