Google Updates Hangouts for Android, Adds Free US and Canada Calling Dylan Duarte September 11, 2014 I’ve never been a big Google Voice user, but I certainly appreciate that it exists. Now I appreciate it even more, because Google has launched a new Hangouts Dialer for Android and with it users in the US and Canada can now make free voice calls – and you don’t even need Google Voice to do so. This comes with the arrival of a new Hangouts app, complete with a brand new interface. The rollout isn’t happening very quickly, however, and as of the time of this writing I’m unable to get the update on my Galaxy Note 3. If you’re not the patient type, you can head over to Android Police to download the actual APK. Contacts, chats, and the dialer will all be integrated into the same app; we all know how much Google loves to combine everything. Again, calls made from the US or Canada are completely free VoIP calls, which is pretty awesome. International calling is available, though for a fee. via Lifehacker Share This With The World!
