Elephant Steady Steadies Your iPhone for Smooth Video Dylan Duarte August 8, 2014 If you ask me to take a picture of you, it will turn out blurry. I’m just a shaky guy, the kind image stablization was made for. The Elephant Steady iPhone holder is also made for me, it seems. The Elephant Steady was designed to hold your iPhone completely still while you record video and it does so in a pretty fancy way. It uses motion controls to detect if the camera moves while filming and then it automatically adjusts itself to correct that movement. The machines know better than we do! This technology has existed in filmmaking for quite some time, but as the technology progresses and becomes easier and cheaper to produce, it becomes more widely available on a consumer level. The Elephant Steady gets its data from the iPhone’s audio jack and the battery is in the handle itself. It does an impressive job of packing a lot of functionality into a small, easy-to-use device. The Elephant Steady is being developed by ADPLUS Co, who have already reached their Kickstarter goal and still have a week to go. $79 plus $20 shipping to those outside of Japan will get you an Elephant Steady by next February.
