When I was a kid, I sat in the dirt and played with blocks of wood. I’m lying, I didn’t, but my childhood toys paled in comparison to the wonders available to children today. Disney’s Playmation line combines figurines and wearable devices to craft interactive adventures that kids can play through without any need for a data connection.

The Marvel Avengers Starter Pack arrives in October and that will let kids step into the stainless steel boots of Iron Man (I’m just assuming his boots are stainless steel). Starting next year, kids will also be able to throw on the robes of one Obi-Wan Kenobi. Just make sure your kid’s midi-chlorian count is high enough. Check out the video below to see it in action.

The cool thing is that the Playmation devices don’t work off of any central hub, freeing the wearer to run and jump and play wherever they want without a tether. They also work together, meaning someone else can join in the on the fun, making this perfect for a parent playing with a kid.

The Playmation toys aren’t cheap. The Avengers Starter Pack will retail for $120 when it arrives in October. However, the Playmation line sounds like a good way to get your kid active, so that might justify the price alone. Star Wars content is scheduled to arrive in 2016 and Frozen play sets will arrive in 2017, with all play sets getting expansions through additional figurines.
