Seriously. This is starting to get out of hand. Literally. It wasn’t all that long ago that the iPhone had only a 3.5-inch display and the typical Android phone was rocking a 4-inch screen. These days, the norm is probably closer to at least the 5.1-inch range. But what if you want even bigger? For a huuuuge phone that’ll look absolutely gigantic in Donald Trump’s tiny hands, take a gander at the newly announced Xiaomi Mi Max.

They’re taking that “max” verbage to, well, the max, since this phone boasts a positively gigantic 6.44-inch “large immersive display.” That’s a smidge bigger than the Sony Xperia Z Ultra we reviewed back in 2013. It was an outrageous anomaly then, but is a smartphone that’s almost the size of a 7-inch tablet just as outrageous today. Yes. I’d say so.

The Xiaomi Mi Max is supposed to still fit in your pocket thanks to its slim 7.5mm body, but I imagine it’s not the thickness that will be your primary concern. The specs are pretty impressive too with up to a Snapdragon 652 chip, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The more entry level model gets a Snapdragon 650, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage. To power that massive screen, there’s an equally massive 4850 mAh battery.

Other highlights include the dual SIM support with dual standby, 5MP front camera with 85-degree wide angle lens, built-in fingerprint sensor, 16MP rear camera, MIUI8, and 4G+ network support. Pricing ranges from 1499 to 1999 RMB, which works out to about $229 to $306 in American dollars. Expect the Xiaomi Mi Max to launch in China next week in your choice of silver, grey or gold.
