Last year, Indian telecommunications company Optiemus acquired the license to manufacture and sell BlackBerry products in the country, and their first phone is on its way. The Ghost is a bezel-free, high-end smartphone that looks great and is poised to bring BlackBerry back to the big leagues.

The reveal comes from Evan Blass (surprise, surprise), though there’s no word on pricing and it’s unknown whether or not the phone will make its way outside of India. It probably won’t, so don’t get your hopes up, but Optiemus did also acquire the rights to sell products in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal. Chinese company TCL handles BlackBerry in every other market, under the name BlackBerry Mobile.

It’s really too bad that that Ghost isn’t coming to North America. It’s a really sleek-looking device. More importantly, it feels very modern, which is something BlackBerry has been lacking for some time now. Hopefully it will sell well and send the appropriate message to the higher-ups.
