Ads Coming to Instagram Mobile App Michael Kwan December 12, 2012 Instagram might be hugely popular and that was one of the main reasons why Facebook decided to buy it, but Instagram really doesn’t make any money. That could be changing very soon, as Facebook is considering the implementation of in-app advertising to monetize the Instagram platform. Remember that Instagram cost Facebook $1 billion to buy, so they are definitely looking for some sort of ROI. The news of the monetization strategy comes by way of Facebook Vice President of Global Marketing Solutions Carolyn Everson. She says that they’ll “definitely be figuring out a monetization strategy. When that will happen, I can’t comment, but it’s going to happen.” How these ads are going to implemented remains to be seen. There could be “featured” images that appear at the top of everyone’s feed, not unlike what we already see on Facebook. I just hope they don’t go for those silly mobile banner ads that other apps use. They just get in the way and annoy the heck out of users. It makes you wonder, though, whether people will jump ship to the new photo filters in the Twitter app instead. Let the retro photo filter wars continue! Via iPhoneInCanada Share This With The World!
