You’ve heard of Doctors Without Borders? Well here’s the phone without borders, the ZTE Nubia Z9, and it’s bringing its borderless display to the United States in the third quarter.

The Nubia Z9 features a 5.2-inch 1080p display and Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. The RAM and storage depend on how much you want to pay for it, with prices ranging from $564 to $725. The $725 “Exclusive” model features a fingerprint sensor on the side of the phone.

The “borderless” display allows the Nubia Z9 to use unique gesture controls through a system that ZTE calls Frame Interactive Technology. There will be a learning curve, for sure, but ZTE stands by the system as a time saver. Turning the phone sideways and placing four fingertips on the edge of the screen will activate the camera. Squeezing the phone without hitting any buttons will activate the front camera, making it the perfect “selfie” shortcut.

The Nubia Z9 has the hardware to compete with rival flagships, its success all depends on whether consumers see the Frame Interactive Technology as a gimmick to be ignored oran innovation to be celebrated.
