Your Picnic Will Be a Breeze With the “Bye Bye Wind” Garden Table Beth Snyder July 28, 2012 Summers are for cooking out, and eating outside, and in general doing everything outside that you normally would inside, right? But unless you’re going to use actual dishes (and why would you want to?) there’s always that thing where the wind kicks up at an inopportune moment and flips your plate full of food into your lap. I hate that. Over the years, I’ve tried any number of things to prevent it: taping my plate to the table, clipping it on the edge, using those wicker paper plate holders…none of it really works well. Well, thanks to designers Marco Marotto and Paola Oliva, there just may be a better way. Their “Bye Bye Wind” Garden Table features all sorts of nooks and crannies built right into the table top, so your paper plates, plastic cups, and napkins stand a better than even chance of staying on the table instead of you having to chase them across the yard. The table seats four, and not only has indentations for your plate and cup, but also for condiments or whatever else you might need. The corners of the table feature larger bowl-like places where you could nestle a bag of chips, or if you’d rather, plant a flower for decoration. Speaking of decoration, there are also two plant pots and a trellis, so you can place your table under a nice little arbor of ivy or grapes of whatever other kind of climbing plant you might desire. In the center of the table is a gadget for crushing plastic bottles (in case you live somewhere there is not a deposit on returnable bottles), so your recycling will take up less room. Each chair has a pocket at the back to hold small items for you while you eat. This is just a concept piece at the moment, and there are no indications that it will ever be commercially available. But I think it looks neat. Source: Gizmag Share This With The World!
