The News: Sunday, July 14 Edition Beth Snyder July 14, 2013 In all, yesterday could have been much worse. It wasn’t as good as I’d hoped, but it wasn’t all bad, either. Dad was able to pay attention and didn’t start faltering too badly walking until just before they were leaving, he just didn’t talk much. But he appeared to know who we all were all of the time, and that’s always a bonus. My stepmother is nothing short of amazing. And then there’s my niece. My second-oldest niece is turning 18, and I’m having a really hard time wrapping my head around that. Most of what she asked for was stuff to furnish her first apartment, which she’s planning on moving into some time soon. Monday my sister is taking her shopping for her first car. Where the heck did the time go? As her sister (my niece with the kids I hang out with all the time) said, it really wasn’t all that long ago that she spent the entire birthday party sitting in her sandbox eating dirt. Now she’s a beautiful, smart, sassy woman with career plans. I guess we never get used to our babies growing up.
