Do you remember when I reviewed the Xperia Z Ultra a couple of years ago? Here was a truly massive phone with a display far larger than just about every other smartphone on the market at the time. What if you want to have that giant screen experience without breaking out the big bucks? Wind Mobile has just launched the Sony Xperia C5 Ultra and it could be the answer to your woes.

While it used to be completely out of the ordinary to have displays and devices quite this large, extra big phablets aren’t quite as unique anymore. In the case of the Sony Xperia C5 Ultra, you get mid-range specs in a big boy body. There’s a 6-inch 1080p IPS display for all your video watching and mobile gaming needs.

Under the hood, you start to notice where Sony cut some corners to keep the Xperia C5 Ultra price down as low as possible. It’s a 1.7GHLz octa-core MediaTek processor, for example, instead of going with a better known chip from Qualcomm. There’s 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a 2,930mAh battery good for two days of use, and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. Both the front and rear cameras are of the 13-megapixel variety.

You could pick up the Sony Xperia C5 Ultra for $399 outright, but I imagine more customers will opt for the $0 price on the WINDtab (with a $15/month WINDtab Boost). It comes in any color you’d like as long as it’s black.
