Samsung Next Gear Smartwatch to Feature Rotating Bezel Dylan Duarte May 13, 2015 News Samsung is developing their own smartwatch that will run their own mobile operating system, Tizen OS, which already puts it at a serious disadvantage against the Apple Watch and its plethora of iOS apps. That’s not stopping Samsung, though, and the company has just released an SDK for developers to begin working on Tizen apps, and with that SDK comes some new information of what’s being called the Next Gear. The Next Gear will feature a 2G data connection, GPS, accelerometer, gyroscope, pressure sensor, heartbeat monitor, and more in the way of built-in sensors. A metal frame will house a 1.18-inch 360 x 360 305ppi display. The rotating bezel seems to be the key feature, though. Twisting the bezel is how you navigate through the various functions of the watch, and it works in much the same way the Apple Watch’s Digital Crown works, letting you zoom in on pictures and such. Like the Apple Watch, it’s designed to let you navigate the OS without blocking the screen with your fingers. Samsung has produced an Android smartwatch in the past, but it looks like they’re sticking with Tizen going forward. Share This With The World!
