Have you ever wanted to have both an Android smartphone and a real-deal digital camera, all rolled up in one tight package? Whatever the answer, Samsung is coming forward with the Galaxy Camera, which has started selling in Canada for $599.99.

On the surface, this will look like another one of Samsung’s point-and-shoots, but this camera actually runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on its huge 4.8-inch touchscreen. The camera itself is a 16MP shooter with a 21x optical zoom. Interestingly, it has both Wi-Fi and 3G+ connectivity, so you can sign up for a data plan and start Instagramming your real photos.

The concept is similar to the Nikon COOLPIX S800c, of which I’ll have the MEGATech review posted on Monday, but this one gets a much newer version of Android and even more zoom. It also costs twice as much, though, so it’s really hard to say whether the Galaxy Camera is really worth the $600 asking price. What say you, smart camera enthusiasts?
