Rumor Has It Lenovo Is Looking to Buy BlackBerry Again Dylan Duarte October 21, 2014 For those who don’t remember (or maybe you never knew in the first place – I don’t know your life), Lenovo tried to buy Blackberry last year, but for a variety of reasons it didn’t happen. Chief among them were security concerns from both North American governments. It looks like Lenovo is ready to try again and rumors suggest that they could make an offer as early as this week. Lenovo’s initial offer would be $15 per share, but the deal is expected to get up to $18 per share. BlackBerry shares have been going for $9 a pop recently, so for anyone who bought stock at that price, this could be a nice little payday. If it happens, that is. The government concerns that prevented the sale last year likely still exist and it’s equally likely that they’ll stop it from happening once again. It’s hard to say if Lenovo is hoping for a different outcome or if this whole thing is just bogus in the first place. Unless something behind the scenes has changed, I don’t see why the deal would go through this time. The American government takes security concerns – which this is though to be – extremely seriously and I can only imagine the Canadian government is the same in that regard. via BGR Share This With The World!
