At this point, it’s more or less confirmed that the Galaxy S8 will be unveiled to the world next Wednesday, March 29 at a special Samsung special event. We’ve already had a good look at the new hardware design with no home button and the new Samsung Experience UI to replace TouchWiz. Maybe you want to drop four figures on this phone. Or maybe now is the best time to score an awesome deal on an unlocked Galaxy S7 instead.

Despite being a year old at this point, the Samsung Galaxy S7 can still easily hold its own against many of this year’s top competitors. It not not have the curved display of its edge brethren, but it’s also chiming in at far less money. All the while, you still get the premium design, quad HD Super AMOLED display, worldwide compatibility, exceptional camera performance, and dual wireless charging support.

Whereas the new Galaxy S8 is expected to retail in the $1,000 range off contract, you can now score an unlocked Galaxy S7 for less than $500 in the United States and less than $600 in Canada. That’s for the international version with no warranty; you’ll need to pony up a few more doubloons if you want the one with a U.S. warranty. Still worth it?
