The News: Sunday, July 6 Edition Beth Snyder July 6, 2014 This has been something of an up and down week. We had Canada Day and Independence Day, and those involved celebration and food and fun (I’m in the US, but very near to Canada, so I get the benefit of both countries’ holidays). And then I found out a man I graduated high school with was killed in a motorcycle accident on Friday. Not someone I hung out with, not someone from my circle of friends, not someone I’ve talked to outside of possibly at a class reunion since then… but I come from a very small town. My graduating class wasn’t big, and most of us had known each other since kindergarten. I’m sad for his family, sad for his friends, and sad that it happened. He was planning to attend our 25-year class reunion later this month, and now he’s gone. It’s just… unsettling. Leaves me unbalanced and incredibly aware of my own mortality. Rest in peace, Eric.
