Mount Your GoPro to Your Smartphone with the CAMpanion Mounting System Stephen Fung February 15, 2015 GoPro cameras have made it possible to get video in some of the coolest place on (and off) the planet. Because of their small size, we’restarting to see them on theend of selfie sticks, and they are evenreplacingregular camcorders. While the GoPro won’t replace your smartphone, it’s definitely less of a disaster if you dropped it in the water. However, the small size and need for a screen, make it finicky for trying to use it for everything. That’s where the CAMpanion comes in. The CAMpanion is a mounting system for any GoPro ever made, that allows you to mount it to any flat surface. In fact, it was designed to mount to the back of a smartphone or a tablet. By using the screen on the smartphone or tablet, you can take advantage of the GoPro app, and use it to adjust the settings easily. A universal cold shoe allows you to mount accessories like a mic or a light. I know some of you filmmakers out there are already dreaming of some possibilities. Check out the video below for a quick overview… As you can see, the CAMpanion really does make a lot of sense. And it’s low price of $30 US, makes it very affordable. One thing that I was concerned about was the ability to charge it, since GoPros still have a reasonably crappy battery life. Luckily, you can top it up with any power bank, as the charge port is still accessible through their mounting system. The CAMpanion is currently in its Kickstarter funding phase, and will be shipping in May of 2015. Source(s): Kickstarter/ NoFilmSchool Share This With The World!
