windows10

Microsoft confirmed today that Windows 10 will go on sale this summer, but during that announcement they also dropped another little tidbit that’s arguably a lot more interesting. Microsoft has been working with Xiaomi to develop software that effectively overrides the Android OS and turns an Android phone into a Windows 10 phone.

Xiaomi has pointed out that they’re not partnered with Microsoft, simply providing assistance. The phones that Microsoft have been testing the software on are Xiaomi’s flagship Mi 4 Android smartphones. This isn’t a dual boot option that will allow you to run two operating systems, but a ROM that completely turns the phone into a Windows device. Neither Microsoft nor Xiaomi will elaborate on the software, but Techcrunch was able to get what little details they could from their source.

Slow down there, Alex Jones. Microsoft isn’t looking to take over your phone, but they do want your business, and they think that giving you an easy way to test drive Windows 10 will get you hooked. It’ll be interesting to see where this goes once they expand out of China.
