iPhone rumours are never in short supply, especially when a new release is just around the corner. Reports out of the Far East have Apple developing both an improved iPhone 5S and a larger iPhone 6 or iPhone Plus. Chinese mobile phone information site Laoyaoba.com has reportedly seen both new phone models at Apple’s suppliers.

The iPhone 5S is rumoured to be identical to the current iPhone 5, with a just a few tweaks to update the phone and possibly fix some of the issues that have plagued the handset since its release. The larger iPhone 6 or iPhone Plus is rumoured to have a 5-inch screen, slated to compete directly with the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Note II.

Apple will have its work cut out for it, as many Apple users are flocking to the larger screen of the Samsung Galaxy S3. With the upcoming release of the Samsung Galaxy S4 in March, Apple will need to step up and release a phone with much improved hardware specs if it wants to remain competitive in the lucrative smartphone market.

With an iPhone 5S, iPhone Plus, iPad Mini, and the latest iPad, we could see Apple mirroring Samsung with their lineup looking something like this:
