The latest beta of Apple’s upcoming iOS 5 has been making the rounds, and the usual suspects are digging up things that Apple is trying to keep under covers. The latest find from 9to5Mac seems to confirm the integration of Nuance’s Dragon Dictation into the next version of Apple’s much awaited iOS update.

In typical Apple minimalist style, the entire Dragon Dication interface has gone from this…

to this…

Note the new microphone icon next to the spacebar. Now, instead of typing your text, you can tap the microphone and speak it instead. Nuance’s industry leading speech recognition engine will process the audio recording into text and place it into the input field for you.

The way in which Apple chose to integrate this feature also suggests that any application that utilizes keyboard text entry will also allow voice recognition as an alternate input method. That takes Nuance’s Dragon Dictation one step further from just simplifying social networking site updates for Facebook and Twitter to pretty much everything else.
