The Amazon Echo sure is turning into the little digital assistant that could. Just a few days ago Michael Kwan told us thatit’s possible to order an Uber through Amazon’s little cylindrical device, and now you can even change the temperature in your house, provided you have the right type of thermostat.

I suppose it’s a bit misleading to say the “right type” of thermostat when really you need a very specific thermostat: the Ecobee 3. The Ecobee 3 will cost you $249, but if you think about it, that’s not too crazy of a price to ensure that you’re comfortable with the temperature in your home. And it’s a pretty awesome bonus that you can shout out temperatures that you want to feel.

There’s also the Nest thermostat, which can technically be controlled by the Echo, but it requires you to jump threw some hoops to use with it with the Echo and one of those hoops requires the use of a special vocabulary. By all accounts, the union between Echo and Nest leaves a lot to be desired.

The Ecobee, on the other hand, was designed to work with the Amazon Echo and is reportedly very simple to use.
