Have you always wanted a Siri-like assitant without having to have an iOS device? Maybe youd like to have a torrid love affair with a digital voice like in the new Spike Jonze film? Well youll be happy to know that the Windows Phone 8.1 update comes with a personal assistant, similar to Apples Siri. Oh, theres also a new notification center, but you cant have a torrid love affair with that.
Unless youre into that sort of thing.
Microsoft is currently beta testing 8.1 internally and plans to formally announce the updates at the 2014 Build Developer Conference. The notification center feature has been highly requested and the Verge reports that it will work similar to those on iOS and Android; youll be able to swipe down from the top of the screen to access the feature.
Microsofts personal digital assistant will be called Cortana, which is at the same time brilliant and unsurprising. Cortana will supposedly replace Bing search and respond to both voice and text commands.
