MEGATech Showcase: Geeky Christmas Decoration Extravaganza

Prev1 of 22Next

Seasons greetings!

Christmas is just around the corner, but it’s not too late to pick up some fabulously geeky decorations! This collection kept growing and growing until it’s almost too long, but I can’t make myself cut anything from it because I want almost all of them.

If you’re trying to find that special something that celebrates the holiday in your own unique style, I bet you’ll find something here!

This is the Festive Droid You Are Looking For

Who wouldn’t want R2-D2 on their lawn? This lighted ornament can be used indoor or outdoor, and his Santa hat is removable in case you want to leave him up year ’round. He does require some assembly, but doesn’t require tools (no worries for the less mechanically inclined). R2 measures 18″ wide x 29″ tall x 15″ deep (about 46 x 74 x 38 cm), and weighs all of three pounds (1.4 kg). Best part? He’s currently on sale for just $53.99 US, a 40% savings!

Trim the Tree in Star Wars

You know you want these. Add some Star Wars to your tree with these Hallmark special edition resin ornaments! Choose between C-3PO, Darth Vader, Kylo Ren, or R2-D2… or collect them all. Each one measures about 2 1/2? – 3 1/2? tall, and can be yours for $7.99 US each. I’m loving R2-D2’s antlers!

Trim the Tree…but Make Mine Dark

If you’d prefer to take your tree to the dark side, you can do it with these Darth Vader and Stormtrooper blown glass ornaments. These also come from Hallmark, and are on sale for $4.99 US each, down from $9.99 US. Each one measures 2 1/2 inches tall, and will add some class to any tree’s theme.

That’s Not a Moon…That’s a Star Wars Ball Ornament!

But wait, there’s more! These glass ball ornaments are designed from A New Hope, and include one each of X-wing pilot Luke, Leia with her signature double bun hairdo, Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader, and the androids C-3P0 and R2-D2. Each set of six costs $31.99 US.

These are the Stormtrooper Xmas Lights You Are Looking For

You’re going to need some lights for that tree as well, or perhaps just strung around your desk. These would look great in a cubicle, I think! Each string of 10 Stormtrooper lights is rated for indoor or outdoor use, and they can be plugged together. Each one measures 2 1/2 inches tall, and the string is nine feet long. $19.99 US makes one yours, on sale from $24.99 US.

If Santa Puts You on the Naughty List…

Rounding out the Star Wars section is this Darth Vader stocking holder. I find myself wondering exactly what kind of treats Santa will leave you if Lord Vader is hovering, but it might be something good! He’s made of metal and measures 4″ wide x 3″ deep x 4 1/2″ tall, ready to perch on the edge of your mantel to ensure your stocking full of goodies doesn’t fall into the fire. Currently on sale for $19.99 US from $34.99 US.

LEGO Ornaments Because They Are Awesome

You know I love LEGO, right? Chris McVeigh has put together a whole slew of custom-designed LEGO ornaments, available as kits for a variety of prices or as downloadable build it yourself guides for free. If you choose a kit, you’ll get everything you need including bricks and instructions, whereas if you choose to download a guide it’ll give you a list of bricks you’ll need and the instructions. Neat!

Don’t Blink…It really is a Tardis in Your Yard

Let’s take a trip through time, shall we? Your yard will never be the same once you install this light up Tardis lawn ornament! It can be used indoor or outdoor, measures 14″ wide x 14″ deep x 30″ tall, and weighs all of six pounds. It really must be bigger on the inside! It ships flat and requires some assembly, but no tools are required. Pick yours up for $104.99 US, on sale from $139.99 US.

Tardis Tree Toppers are Cool…

Moving on to your tree, why not top it off with a light up Tardis? It measures eight inches tall, and runs on three LR411 5V batteries (not included). Made of plastic, it won’t weigh down your tree, and will make any Dr. Who fan happy. Cost is $29.99 US.

Trim the Tree With Little…Tardii?

If you’d rather not have one on top, how about a Tardis hanging somewhere on the tree? This one also lights up (it runs on three LR44 batteries, included), and cycles through several colours (red, green, blue, yellow, violet). It measures 4 1/4? tall x 2? deep x 2? wide, and is currently on sale for just $3.99 US from $9.99 US.

And Davros Heart Grew Two Sizes…

How about interspersing some Davros with your Tardis? This one measures 3 1/2? tall x 2? wide x 2 1/2? deep, and will appeal to Whovians of all ages. Well, maybe appeal was the wrong choice of word, but you know what I mean. At any rate, you can add this evil genius creator of the Daleks to your tree for $4.99 US, on sale from $5.99 US.

I Swear I Just Put This On The Tree…

Whatever you do, don’t blink! This wonderful little creation is hand crafted and hand painted glass, and I love it. She measures 5 1/2? tall x 2 1/2? diameter at base, and weighs two ounces. For those of you who like your Christmas angels with a little twist of danger, this pretty much demands you buy it. And at just $4.99 US (on sale from $19.99 US!), you have no excuse not to.

Hoping Your Stocking is Like a Tardis

I have to wonder if hanging your stocking from a Tardis will make it bigger on the inside. You know, so Santa can fit all the cool gadgets and whatnot you’ve asked for, as well as quite a few you didn’t even know you wanted. It’s covered in snow and sparkles to bring festivity to any mantel, measures 6? tall x 3 3/4? wide x 2 3/4? deep, and is made of metal. Pick yours up for $12.49 US, on sale from $24.99 US.

Soft Kitty…Hanging Kitty…

Poor kitty! How sad to have to spend the holidays ensconced in a cone of shame. But if you’ve got a soft spot for the wee furry beasties, you’ll want to hang this one on your tree. It measures 4 inches tall and is made of glass (the cone is made of plastic, of course), ready to add some whimsy to your holiday. Take one home for $14.99 US.

Have a Bad Ass Zombie Free Xmas

I don’t understand why women swoon over this guy, but I do like the character. This is, of course, Daryl Dixon from The Walking Dead, and while it seems a little odd to have a zombie killer on your tree, why not? He measures 4.25 inches tall, and is dated 2015 so you’ll always know when you added him to your collection. $19.99 US will bring him home to you.

When Weird Will Do

While we’re in bizzaro world… Why not add a Santa Clops ornament to your tree? He’s made of blown glass and measures five inches tall by 3.5 inches wide. Every time I look at the picture I start giggling uncontrollably, which means I’m probably going to end up owning one of these. You can get one, too, if you shell out $14.99 US.

Papoys for All The Good Boys and Girls

Minions! I love these little guys! Although “little” isn’t exactly the word to describe this inflatable Minions Slide… It’s 10′ Long X 7.8′ Tall X 4′ Wide! It comes with yard stakes as well as an internal fan and light powered by a 5-foot cord. It’s not cheap, but then greatness never is. If you’d like one of these for your outdoor display, it’s going to cost you $196.00 US.

A Krampus Party on Xmas

You’re familiar with the legend of the Krampus, right? If not, go look it up. I’ll wait.

This is, oddly enough a “Don’t Cuddle The Krampus”, which is actually a very cuddly line of toys that recently successfully completed a Kickstarter campaign. What that means, of course, is that you can’t exactly order one right now, but it also means they will be a reality. The Krampus measures about 14″ tall / stands at 18.5″ tall and is 11″ wide, and is made of a variety of plush fabrics as well as soft plastic. There are also three “Naughty Kids”, each measuring about 7.5″ tall x 5″ wide x 1.5″ deep. They were asking for a pledge of at least $80.00 US to get a set of all four, plus assorted other goodies, so I assume you’re looking at about $100.00 US once they hit retail.

For the Festive Beardo

I have been trying to get anyone I know who has a beard to wear these since I first saw them a couple of years ago. They make me laugh like a loon! Beardo Baubles really need to be a thing, and I will be a happy woman. Each set contains 10 multi-coloured balls, each measuring 20.1cm(W) x 10.2cm(H) x 3.1cm(D). A set only costs £7.99 (about $12.00 US), so why not get some!

It Hurts to NOT Smile for the Holidays

Everybody knows a Grinch, right? That person who “bah, humbug”s their way through the holiday season, dragging everybody down with them. If you can get them to wear this Santa beard, there is a way to fix that! This is the Jolly Tracker, and if you’re not smiling it’ll remind you to do so… with an electric shock to your face. I love it! There are a bunch of technical details, of course, but the most important thing is I can’t seem to find a price or if you can even buy one. I know three people who need one posthaste.

Catch Up on Christmas and Take the Edge Off Too

It’s a little late for these last two items, but I have faith that you can catch up. This first one is a whiskey advent calendar, with samples of various spirits behind each door. If whiskey isn’t your thing, these are also available in rum, vodka, bourbon, cognac, gin, mezcal, and tequila versions. At $190.00 US, it’s not cheap, but then neither is good whiskey. Since it’s an advent calendar, there are 24 one-ounce bottles included.

Beer…Enough Said…

This is the advent calendar for me! Each of its 24 doors hides a different variety of craft beer, which is my preferred adult beverage. I love trying different types, so this is right up my alley. They come from a wide variety of places, and in a wide variety of flavours and styles. Although the $123.00 US price tag says I won’t be able to justify getting one this year, I’ll definitely keep it in mind for the future.
