Wireless Video Door Phone + Automatic Door Opener = Win Beth Snyder June 7, 2011 Ever since I was a kid and saw my first one in a movie, I have always wanted a remote door opener with a security camera. Do I need one? Not really…all my doors have windows either in or near them. But I want one. I even went so far as to price them once, but my goodness there are a lot of things I truly do need I could purchase for that kind of money! This seems like a cheap and easy alternative to the real thing. The wireless video phone for the outside of your house is easy to install, since the mounting holes are pre-molded into the chassis and it comes with the four required mounting screws. All you have to do is provide your own Philips screwdriver and plan on about five minutes of your time. All the required wiring is also provided, so you just need to connect the wire with the electronic unlock control. Yes, you read that right: this will also remotely unlock your door to let a visitor in, provided you already have an electronic entry lock. The pinhole camera (with audio, of course) is mounted into what could pass for a ridiculously fancy doorbell housing. The receiver features a 3.5-inch screen, has about a 50-meter range and is portable, so you can carry it with you as you move about your house. It also has infrared lights, so you can check out your visitors after dark…which is when most visitors with nefarious purposes would probably show up. You can also take a picture in case you get too creepy a vibe from whoever comes to your door. The receiver and transmitter both come with a 3.7V 1250 mAh rechargeable Li-ion battery. MSRP is $174.01 US, but you can get one starting at just $148.72. The more you buy, the more the unit cost decreases. Source: 7 Gadgets Share This With The World!
